President Donald Trump has threatened to order strikes to destroy all power plants and bridges in Iran if the country’s theocratic regime does not reopen the Strait of Hormuz to all shipping traffic by 8 p.m. Eastern on April 7, 2026.
In a post on his social media platform Truth Social on the morning of April 7, 2026, Trump warned that a whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again
if a deal is not reached. While the president stated I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will,
he also suggested that a positive outcome remains possible.
Trump wrote that the possibility of a revolutionarily wonderful
event exists now that there is Complete and Total Regime Change,
where different, smarter, and less radicalized minds prevail.
He described the current moment as one of the most important in world history, claiming that 47 years of extortion, corruption, and death, will finally end.
Military Escalation and Civilian Casualties
Military actions by the United States and Israel escalated on April 7, 2026, ahead of the president’s deadline. The U.S. Launched fresh strikes targeting the oil export hub of Kharg Island, while Israel acknowledged carrying out attacks on Iranian bridges and railways.
An Iranian official reported that at least 18 civilians were killed by these strikes in a single province on April 7, 2026.
Iranian Response and Human Shields
The Iranian regime responded to the threats by calling on young people to form human chains around the country’s power plants. These chains are intended to act as human shields to deter U.S. Strikes on critical infrastructure.

The official Fars state news agency posted a video on April 7, 2026, showing hundreds of people lined up in front of the Kazerun combined cycle power plant. The video was released hours before the 8 p.m. Eastern deadline set by the U.S. Administration.
Regional Impact and Diplomatic Context
The tension has caused disruptions across the Middle East. The bridge linking Saudi Arabia to Bahrain was closed on April 7, 2026, following threats from Iran as the U.S. Deadline approached.
These threats follow a period of fluctuating diplomatic signals. On April 6, 2026, President Trump told reporters that he believed the Iranian regime was negotiating in good faith.
He further characterized a set of proposals sent by Tehran in response to a 15-point peace proposal from his administration as a significant step
toward a resolution.
Despite these earlier comments, Trump indicated on April 7, 2026, that he would not grant Iran additional time to reach an agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
A whole civilization will die tonight never to be brought back again. I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will.
President Donald Trump
