Trump Declines Invitation for Second Debate with Kamala Harris
Washington: In a recent development, Republican Party candidate and former President Donald Trump has declined an invitation to hold a second debate with Democratic Party candidate Kamala Harris before the US presidential election.
CNN had invited both candidates for a debate, which Kamala Harris had already accepted. The debate was scheduled to take place on October 23. However, Trump’s decision to decline the invitation has raised eyebrows, particularly given his strong performance in his earlier debate with Joe Biden.
Interestingly, Trump’s performance in his earlier debate with Kamala Harris was not as impressive as his debate with Biden. The first debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris took place on September 10 in Philadelphia. Following the controversy surrounding the debate, Kamala Harris’s popularity saw a significant surge.
When questioned about Kamala Harris’s acceptance of CNN’s invitation, Trump’s campaign team pointed out that his previous position on debates was no longer in dispute. They highlighted that Kamala Harris had only participated in one debate, whereas Trump had attended two. Trump himself had stated that there was no time for further debates.
