The Trump administration recently declared that Phase⁤ 1 ‌of the cease-fire agreement between Hamas and Israel was over and that the work of phase‍ 2 ‍would begin. ⁤this came as a surprise to‍ Palestinians, and to many ‍observers ‌of‍ the region, given that none of the ⁤20 points in ⁤the plan laid out at ⁤the beginning of the cease-fire‌ had been realized on the ground-aside ⁤from⁣ the return of Israeli⁣ hostages.

As an ⁤example, Israel‍ has allowed some‌ aid⁢ in-but not at the levels ⁢required to offset hunger and⁤ malnutrition or to sustain reconstruction.‌ Violence has not ended either; as the cease-fire‍ was‌ announced last october, more than 480 palestinians have been killed, including at⁤ least‍ 100 children, and thousands ‍more ⁣ injured in Israeli attacks. Most recently, three journalists were killed in what a‍ relief group‍ described as a targeted attack.

The Trump administration recently declared ‍that Phase 1 of the cease-fire agreement between Hamas and Israel was over and that the work‍ of Phase 2 would begin.⁢ This came as a surprise to Palestinians, and to many observers of the region, given ⁣that none of ⁣the 20 points in the plan ‌laid⁤ out‍ at the beginning of the cease-fire had been realized on the ground-aside from the return of Israeli hostages.

As a ‌notable example, Israel has allowed some aid in-but not at the ⁣levels required to offset ⁤hunger and malnutrition⁢ or to sustain reconstruction.Violence has not ended either; as⁣ the⁣ cease-fire ⁤was announced last October,⁢ more than 480 ‌Palestinians have been killed, including at least 100 children, and‌ thousands more injured in Israeli attacks. Most ⁢recently, three journalists were killed in what⁤ a relief group described as a targeted attack.

Moreover, Gaza has ‌been reduced in size, with a new “yellow line” demarcating where‌ Israeli troops will remain for ⁢now,‌ and Israel‍ continues to push the yellow line further into what remains of Gaza. This so ‌far accounts for more than 50 percent of the strip. In that portion,‍ “access to humanitarian ‍facilities and assets, ‍public⁢ infrastructure and agricultural land are either restricted or prohibited” to Palestinians, according to the United Nations.

Despite all this, a slew of invitations has gone‌ out ⁣to world‍ leaders and⁤ wealthy ‌billionaires to join U.S. President Donald Trump’s Board ‌of Peace. On paper, the Board of Peace is intended ‌ to “promote stability, ⁣restore dependable a

Controversial “Board of Peace” Plan ‍Raises Concerns of Neocolonialism and ⁣Ethnic Cleansing in‍ Gaza

A newly proposed “Board of Peace” for post-conflict Gaza, outlined in the GREAT plan, is ⁤drawing criticism for its ‌composition and ‌potential implications, raising fears of neocolonial control and the normalization of ethnic cleansing. The ⁢plan, reported by the Washington Post on August 31, 2025, prioritizes development and security interests over Palestinian self-determination.

The board’s ⁤structure promptly raises concerns. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been offered a seat, while Palestinians are excluded. This ⁤elevates‌ one party‌ to the conflict while sidelining the other. Netanyahu currently‌ faces an arrest⁢ warrant from the International Criminal Court, issued november 11, 2024, for alleged ⁣war ‍crimes, and his government faces accusations of genocide ⁣in Gaza, according to the United‌ Nations.Critics argue‌ the Board will shield aggressors from ⁣accountability ⁣rather than facilitate justice.

The ⁢GREAT plan, as reported by the Washington Post, explicitly discusses encouraging Palestinian emigration from Gaza as⁣ a key⁣ component ‍of its success. This ⁤aligns with stated intentions from ‍Netanyahu and other Israeli government officials to ethnically cleanse Palestinians.⁤ This acceptance of forced ⁢displacement represents a dangerous shift in⁤ conflict resolution strategies.

“Might ⁢is right,” appears to be the guiding principle, as evidenced by the invitation extended to Russian ⁢President Vladimir Putin to join ⁢the Board.

Furthermore, ‌the plan‌ frames post-conflict reconstruction as a business opportunity for companies and individuals⁢ involved in the GREAT plan. Former ⁣U.S.‍ President Donald Trump, a ⁤member of the board, has publicly stated his intention ⁣to develop⁤ Gaza as a lucrative ‌real⁣ estate venture, as reported by the BBC on January 26, 2026, referring to‍ Gaza as a “beautiful piece of property.”
