Truth Social experienced double-digit declines in visitor traffic during June and July, according to estimates from a widely cited online tracking firm. To offset scaling challenges and competition from larger social media firms, Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) is launching a paid data feed called Truth API on August 1 to sell high-speed access to influential posts to financial institutions.

Truth API Data Licensing for Financial Firms

Trump Media & Technology Group is entering the data licensing market with the Truth API, a product designed for algorithmic trading firms, banks, and other organizations that prioritize speed in information gathering. According to a TMTG statement, the service provides the fastest access to posts from the 10 most influential accounts on the platform, delivering data in milliseconds.

The API delivers posts at a pace significantly faster than standard push notifications. TMTG interim CEO Kevin McGurn stated that the product closes a gap for firms that previously relied on manual monitoring to track influential posts. The service includes a historical archive of posts dating back to 2022 and provides 24/7 coverage.

The company has already signed customers ahead of the August 1 launch. TMTG is using this move to monetize data that firms have previously been scraping in violation of the company’s terms of service, according to a company spokesperson. McGurn said the company intends to create a lot of friction for those not using the official API.

Market Impact of Truth Social Posts

TMTG is positioning the API as a critical tool for traders because posts from President Donald Trump frequently move global markets. According to NBC News, Trump has used the platform to announce trade restrictions on China and his Liberation Day tariffs, causing immediate market reactions.

President Trump is the most followed user on the platform with 12.9 million followers, according to The Verge. Other high-ranking accounts include the White House, Kash Patel, and Trump’s sons. The Verge reports that Trump often uses Truth Social for official communications before they appear on other platforms.

Revenue Strategy and Company Ownership

The launch of Truth API represents a new revenue stream for TMTG as it struggles to scale its media business against larger competitors. McGurn stated that as adoption grows, the company expects the API to become a meaningful, ongoing source of revenue.

The financial benefit of the API service extends to the Trump family, who are the largest shareholders in the publicly traded company, according to The Verge. While TMTG has not disclosed the specific cost of the API subscriptions, the company is leveraging the market-moving nature of its primary user’s content to attract Wall Street clients.
