On December 16, 2023, the Acting Professions Syndicate Club, with Artist Captain Dr. Ashraf Zaki present, reported via social media that veteran Egyptian actor Mohie Ismail, affectionately known as “Al-qaysar” (The Caesar), had fallen into a coma and been hospitalized for treatment. This news quickly circulated online, prompting concern among fans and colleagues.
Nephew Clarifies Health Status
However, thes reports were swiftly refuted by Ashraf Fayek, Mohie Ismail’s nephew. Fayek confirmed to media outlets that Ismail was experiencing a minor health issue, but was not in a coma. He stated that Ismail felt fatigued and the family proactively took him to the hospital for routine tests and monitoring.
According to fayek, Ismail is expected to be discharged soon and continue his recovery at home. ”The artist Mohie Ismail felt a little tired yesterday, so the family decided to take him to the hospital to check on his condition, and he is now only undergoing some routine tests and tests, in readiness for his discharge and completing his treatment at home in the coming hours,” Fayek said.Ismail himself also confirmed he was feeling tired and that the hospital visit was a precautionary measure.
About Mohie Ismail
Mohie ismail was born in Kafr al-Dawwar, Beheira governorate, Egypt, and comes from a family with a strong educational background. His father was a senior education officer with an international teaching certificate, and his mother was the daughter of the village mayor. he is one of nine children.
Ismail studied Philosophy at the College of Arts and also trained at the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts. He is renowned for his stage work, including performances in plays such as The Black Night, suleiman Al-Halabi, and The Caucasian Chalk Circle.
Throughout his film career, Ismail gravitated towards roles depicting characters grappling with psychological complexities. This focus earned him recognition as a pioneer of psychodrama in Egypt, and he received the Tashkent International Film festival Award for his performance in Enemy Brothers (1974). His filmography includes The Bullet is Still in My Pocket, Watch out for Zuzu, The Lost Plane, Behind the Sun, the Moon, Devil’s Tears, and The Execution of a High School Student.
