Turkish Aerospace Industries suffered a “terrorist attack”, many people died
Terrorist Attack Targets Turkish Aerospace Company TUSAS
A devastating terrorist attack occurred at the Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAS) facility in Ankara, resulting in loss of life and multiple injuries. The injured were taken to nearby hospitals, including Bilkent and Etlik City Hospitals, as well as Yenimahalle Training and Research Hospital. One seriously injured person was airlifted to Yenimahalle Research and Training Hospital via ambulance helicopter.
A judicial investigation has been launched by the Ankara Chief Prosecutor’s Office to probe the circumstances surrounding the attack. Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz condemned the attack, stating that it targeted Türkiye’s achievements in the defense industry. He also commended the swift response of security forces, who intervened in the incident immediately.
According to the Minister of Internal Affairs, Süleyman Soylu Yerlikaya, the attack resulted in the loss of three lives and injured 14 people. Yerlikaya also confirmed that two terrorists were neutralized during the incident.
TUSAS is a prominent player in the Turkish defense industry, producing the F-16 fighter jet under license from General Dynamics. The company also manufactures a range of avionics and aircraft components for both civil and military use. Additionally, TUSAS builds aircraft, attack helicopters, and drones for the Turkish military. The Turkish Armed Forces Foundation, a state-run military research and procurement organization, is the company’s largest shareholder.
