Türkiye is preparing to send its second astronaut next June

The upcoming mission represents an important step for the Turkish space program, as it showcases the country’s growing capabilities in the field of space exploration and research.

The Turkish astronaut is preparing to leave a new mark on Turkey’s ambitions through his next space flight, which is expected to be launched from the Virgin Galactic Spaceport facility in New Mexico, United States.

The spacecraft will carry a crew of six, including four crew members and two pilots.

The Atasivir mission will include a carrier plane that will lift the spacecraft to about 45,000 feet (14 kilometers), at which point the spacecraft will separate from the carrier plane, and the rocket motor will ignite to propel the spacecraft to three times the speed of sound within one minute, reaching an altitude of 90 kilometers within a short period. .

After that, the vehicle will land in free fall, and during this period the astronaut will learn about microgravity conditions and a group of different phenomena, while the vehicle is expected to later return to the runway and land next to the carrier plane, in a flight that will take about an hour and a half.

In the same context, Atasiver confirmed that the primary goal of the mission is to conduct scientific experiments, including the IvmeRad radiation dosimeter and experiment with the efficiency of insulin delivery in space, in addition to other scientific experiments.

It is noteworthy that Türkiye had previously sent Albert Gezer Oji, the first Turkish astronaut, into space last February.
