TV Industry Shaken by Senior Executive Departures at Fremantle and Banijay

Reports from Deadline and C21Media indicate that Vasha Wallace, Fremantle’s executive vice president of global acquisitions and development, is departing the RTL Group-owned production and distribution powerhouse following a tenure of over two decades. Wallace informed external television industry colleagues that she would be stepping down from her role.

According to reporting by C21Media, Wallace will remain with Fremantle through September to manage a formal handover process. Her departure follows a two-decade tenure that began in 2004 when she joined as an acquisitions manager back when the company operated under the name FremantleMedia.

During her time at the company, Wallace worked across some of the biggest unscripted formats on television. Among the shows highlighted by C21Media as part of her portfolio are Hole in the Wall, Project Runway, Farmer Wants a Wife, Thank God You’re Here, The Apprentice, My Mom Cooks Better than Yours, and The Piano. Her remit expanded significantly in 2012 when she joined Fremantle’s fledgling global entertainment development division to work across the format programming pipeline before earning a promotion to executive VP in 2015.

Next Steps and Future Consulting Plans

According to a note seen by C21Media, Wallace plans to build a portfolio career following her departure. She stated in the note that she will be doing several interesting things at once, which will include consulting in international television so that professional paths will continue to cross.

Before joining Fremantle in London, Wallace started her television career at Sky TV in New Zealand, subsequently moving to London Weekend Television and later Granada International Production, which is now known as ITV Studios.
