Outfielder Matt Wallner is back with the Minnesota Twins after being reinstated from the 10-day injured list Saturday. The move provides a boost to the Twins’ outfield depth as they navigate the season.
Wallner had been sidelined since mid-April due to a left hamstring strain. To make room for Wallner on the roster, the Twins optioned outfielder DaShawn keirsey Jr. to Triple-A St. Paul.
During his rehab assignment with triple-A St. Paul, Wallner showcased his offensive capabilities, hitting .320 with five home runs and 13 rbis in just six games. This performance signaled his readiness to return to the major league roster and contribute to the Twins’ lineup.
Before his injury,Wallner appeared in 18 games for Minnesota,batting.263 with one home run and three RBIs. Since joining the Twins in 2022, Wallner has a career batting average of .252 with 30 home runs and 91 RBIs in 187 games,establishing himself as a valuable power threat.
Keirsey Jr. played in 45 games for Minnesota this season, recording a .109 batting average with one home run, four RBIs, and 21 strikeouts. His demotion allows him to get more consistent playing time in Triple-A.
