The trailer unveiled new cast members, production staff, and the series’ opening theme. The anime adapts the manga of the same name, which is based on the popular mobile game released in Japan in 2020. The game originated from a collaboration between Disney Japan,aniplex,Square Enix,and f4samurai. Yana Toboso, the author of Black Butler, is responsible for the character design and script.
Yōhei Azakami will voice Yūken Enma,the protagonist of the Episode of Heartslabyul
arc. Unlike the video game, which is told from the player’s viewpoint, the manga follows different protagonists depending on the dormitory featured in each episode, with Heartslabyul being the focus of this arc. A common trait among the protagonists is that their names begin with the syllable Yū,
which is the default name given to the player in the game.
The anime’s premise mirrors that of the game: Yūken, a Kendō champion and Hibari Metropolitan High School student, is transported to the world of Twisted Wonderland one full moon evening via a black carriage. He arrives at Night Raven College, a prestigious magic school, interrupting the opening ceremony and the sorting of new students.Among the first-year students are Ace Trappola and Deuce Spade from Heartslabyul dormitory, who, along with the small demon Grim, become Yūken’s friends and companions.
