Twitch Streamer Aspen Kartier Sentenced to Jail in Puppy Abuse Case

A 19-year-old Twitch streamer and rapper must serve 10 days in jail and pay $3,048 in restitution following her sentencing in DeKalb County, Georgia, for animal abuse involving a 3-month-old puppy, according to the DeKalb County Office of the Solicitor-General. Aspen “Kartier” Easterling received a one-year sentence with 10 days to be served behind bars and the remainder on probation, alongside an automatic five-year ban on owning pets under state law.

Sentencing Terms and Restitution Details

Prosecutors in the DeKalb County Solicitor-General’s Office announced that Easterling received credit for two days already spent in custody and was taken straight to jail from the courtroom under a non-negotiated agreement. The judge denied her request for first-time offender status, ensuring that the conviction stays on her record. In addition to the jail time and veterinary restitution of $3,048 covering care at LifeLine Animal Project, the sentence mandates 24 anger management classes, 100 hours of community service, and an animal abuse prevention program, alongside $39 monthly probation fees.

Twitch Stream Arrest and Surrender of Animal Rights

The criminal case began in January when Brookhaven police received numerous tips about Easterling’s live broadcast on Twitch. Video footage captured her repeatedly striking a 3-month-old Maltipoo puppy and grabbing the animal by the scruff of its neck. Officers arrested Easterling at a residence on Town Boulevard and transferred the dog to DeKalb County Animal Control, while Twitch suspended her account after the video went viral. Both Easterling and a second individual who claimed ownership of the animal surrendered all legal rights to the puppy during court proceedings.

Unresolved Questions Surrounding the Animal and Platform Status

Authorities have not disclosed whether the Maltipoo has been placed with a new adoptive family or remains in foster care through LifeLine Animal Project. Officials also have not identified the second person who previously asserted ownership before relinquishing rights in court. Furthermore, it remains unclear whether Twitch permanently banned Easterling’s channel following its initial temporary suspension.
