Two British naval ships collide in Bahrain harbor

Two British naval ships collided in the port of Bahrain. How the accident occurred is not yet clear. The Royal Navy is investigating.

The British Navy has announced an investigation after two of its minehunters collided in a port in Bahrain. According to the Royal Navy, no one was injured, but there was some damage. “Why this happened still needs to be clarified,” wrote Rear Admiral Edward Ahlgren on Saturday night on X, formerly Twitter.

“We train our employees to the highest standards and strictly enforce safety standards, but unfortunately such incidents can still occur,” Ahlgren said. He announced a full and thorough investigation.

British media pointed to a video that appears to show one of the two ships crashing backwards into the side of the other ship in the harbor. According to the PA news agency and the BBC radio station, it is said to be the “HMS Chiddingfold” and the “HMS Bangor”, both of which are traveling for a long time in the Middle East. The BBC reports that there is said to be a large hole in the hull.
