Two Indian nationals missing in Taiwan’s worst earthquake in 25 years are safe, says Ministry of External Affairs

An earthquake measuring 7.4 on the Richter scale hit Taiwan on Wednesday. It also caused a tsunami on Yonaguni Island in Japan. There were also reports that 10 people died in the earthquake. After this, the two Indians could not be contacted in Taiwan.

“Initially, we were unable to contact the two people in Taiwan following the earthquake. But now they have both been contacted. They are safe,” MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said at a press conference. .

Around 18 people are still missing. Rocks fell down in a big way during the earthquake. This led to a number of roads being cut off and rescue operations being hampered.
