Tomorrow x Together’s Yeonjun Dominates Global Music Charts with Solo Mixtape “GGUM”
Yeonjun, a member of the popular K-pop group Tomorrow x Together, has made a significant impact on the global music scene with his solo mixtape “GGUM”. According to the latest chart released by Japan’s Oricon on September 19, ”GGUM” debuted at number one on the “Daily Digital Single Ranking” with an impressive 3,194 downloads. This achievement is a testament to Yeonjun’s growing influence in the music industry, as he was the only foreign singer to make it onto the list that day.
On Spotify, the world’s largest music streaming platform, Yeonjun’s “GGUM” was featured on the “Daily Top Song (September 19)” chart in seven countries/regions, including Korea, Thailand, and Saudi Arabia. Additionally, the song has topped iTunes’ Top Songs in 32 countries/regions and has taken first and second place on the ‘Worldwide iTunes Songs’ and ‘European iTunes Songs’ charts, respectively.
Yeonjun’s music video for “GGUM” has also gained significant attention, ranking on YouTube’s trending videos in 31 countries/regions and on the trending music charts in 40 countries/regions as of midnight on September 21. Furthermore, the music video for ”Boyfriend”, the OST of the Coupang Play series ‘Cinderella at 2 AM’ sung by Yeonjun, topped the ’Music Video Top 100′ at 8 PM on September 19.
Yeonjun recently appeared on KBS2’s ‘Music Bank’ broadcast on September 20, where he performed the “GGUM” stage for the first time. Despite feeling nervous, Yeonjun delivered a captivating performance, showcasing his skills as a ‘representative K-pop dancer’. He also teamed up with the trendy dance crew We Dem Boyz to give off hip energy, capturing the hearts of music fans.
Yeonjun’s stylish charm was on full display during the performance, with his red-dyed hair, crop jacket, gloves, and denim outfit making a lasting impression. The unique dance moves, including the chewing motion and sticky dance line, left a strong impression on the audience. The combination of the lyrics and melody of ”chewing gum that sticks to your mouth” with Yeonjun’s unique vocal tone created an addictive sound.
Yeonjun will continue to promote his solo mixtape with upcoming appearances on MBC’s ’Show! Music Core’ on September 21, SBS’s ‘Inkigayo’ on September 22, and Mnet’s ‘M Countdown’ on September 26.
