Typhoon Capricorn Update: Low Probability of Direct Impact on Taiwan

Lin Dingyi, a forecaster from the Central Meteorological Administration, announced that Typhoon Capricorn has a chance of intensifying into a moderate typhoon after entering the Bashi Channel. However, the probability of direct impact on Taiwan is low.

According to Lin Dingyi, the weather will be mainly cloudy to sunny from tonight to tomorrow during the day. Moisture will increase on the windward side tomorrow, and there will be sporadic and short-lived showers on the north coast of Keelung, the eastern half, the Hengchun Peninsula, and the central and southern parts.

From tomorrow night to the 6th, due to the influence of the typhoon’s peripheral circulation, the moisture will increase. Residents are advised to pay attention to rainfall on the windward side. In other areas, it will be cloudy to sunny with local brief thundershowers in the afternoon. On the 6th, there will be heavy rain in the south and southeast.

In terms of temperature, due to the influence of easterly wind subsidence, it will be hot and humid tomorrow. The high temperature in various places will be between 32 degrees Celsius and 36 degrees Celsius, with the peach and bamboo seedlings reaching a high temperature of 37 degrees Celsius.

Taiwan will be in a low-pressure area from the 7th to the 9th, with sporadic rainfall in the south and southeast. Residents are advised to pay attention to whether there will be tropical disturbances in the future.

Regarding the dynamics of Typhoon Capricorn, Lin Dingyi stated that the typhoon has landed on Luzon Island and is expected to maintain the intensity of a mild typhoon on land. After entering the Bashi Strait, it may intensify into a moderate typhoon, but the probability of direct impact on Taiwan is low.

Residents are reminded to be cautious of strong gusts in open areas along the coast from Taoyuan to Taichung tomorrow. Additionally, long waves are expected in the eastern half and Green Island Orchid Island. From the 5th to the 8th, residents are advised to watch out for long waves in the south, southeast, and Penghu.
