UAE imposes restrictions on visitor visas

Riyadh: The UAE has introduced strict restrictions on issuing visitor visas to foreigners in the UAE. The Federal Authority for Identity and Nationality, Customs and Security said that only those with close relatives in the UAE can apply for a visitor visa from now on.

A foreigner wishing to come to the UAE on a visitor visa must be a close relative or close friend of a citizen of the country. Restrictions on the visit and stay of foreigners on visitor visas are stricter, namely that they must have a job at a professional level. Officials say there are 459 jobs listed at professional levels. 131 of them are first level and 328 are second level.

Those arriving in the UAE on a visitor visa must submit sufficient documents proving they are a close relative of a UAE citizen. A financial guarantee and a clear reason for acceptance should also be stated. Visitor Visa through Smart Application (UAEICP) should be applied.

The authority explained that the foreigner should enter the country within 60 days from the date of issue of the entry permit after obtaining the visa. Visitors can stay in the UAE for 30 days, 60 days or 90 days.

It depends on the period for which the visa is issued. The foreigner must leave the country or extend the entry permit before the prescribed period expires to avoid an additional penalty of Dh100 for each additional day.
