Ukraine Optimistic About Future US Relations Under Trump
Kyiv, Ukraine - ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal expressed optimism Wednesday about the incoming Trump management, citing positive conversations between President-elect Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Speaking at the VII German-Ukrainian Economic Forum, Shmyhal highlighted the bipartisan support Ukraine enjoys in the United States. “President Zelenskyy has had two very good conversations with Donald Trump, and that dialogue continues,” he said.
When asked if Trump’s inauguration on January 20th would mark a turning point for Ukraine, shmyhal emphasized the enduring support from both major US political parties in the face of Russian aggression.
The Prime Minister’s comments come amidst ongoing tensions between Ukraine and Russia, which annexed Crimea in 2014 and continues to support separatists in eastern Ukraine.
