Fedir Serdiuk, an advisor to Ukraine’s‍ finance minister and co-founder of security company MOWA Defense, has sharply criticized ⁣Europe’s current approach⁤ to ⁤drone warfare.Speaking at the European Defense and Security Conference in Brussels, Serdiuk argued that Europe is making a “big mistake” by focusing excessively on⁢ equipment production while neglecting the development of skilled personnel ⁤to operate and strategically employ drones.

“Our commanders learn on the front every day. They have been fighting for almost four years, almost every day. But Europe is too far ahead. They discuss ⁤equipment, but not experience and tactics,” Serdiuk stated, as reported by Euronews.

The Problem: Factories vs. Training Centers

⁢ ‍ serdiuk⁤ highlighted a concerning trend: the rapid construction of drone factories without a⁤ corresponding investment in training infrastructure. ‍He emphasized that effective drone warfare requires⁣ not onyl technical proficiency but also tactical expertise.

“It is ⁣indeed essential not only in terms of‍ technical skills,but also tactical ones. The skills of officers and soldiers shoudl be addressed first, then ⁢the drone factories,” he explained.‍ He pointed out that Ukraine has demonstrated the ability ⁣to accelerate drone development, but the bottleneck remains the availability of adequately trained operators.
