Ukrainian President Downplays Russia’s Military Successes in Occupation of Audivka

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who is fighting Russia’s illegal invasion, downplayed Russia’s military successes in the recent occupation of Audivka.

In an interview with Fox News scheduled to be broadcast today (22nd), President Zelenskyy acknowledged that last year was a “difficult” year for Ukraine, and said that the end of the year was especially true.

Nevertheless, President Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine has “regained part of the Kharkiv region over the past two years” and has also lifted the blockade of the Black Sea, where there are grain export routes, and destroyed a large number of Russian ships there.

On the other hand, they claim that all Russia could do was occupy Audiuka, and it was not clear what it was for.

Audiuka is said to be a key area in Russia’s aim to take full control of two provinces in the industrial Donbas region.

Meanwhile, Dmitry Medvedev, the deputy chairman of the Russian National Security Council, said on this day that Russian troops may need to arrive in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv to achieve the goals of the ‘special military operation’.

According to Russia’s state-run TASS news agency, Medvedev insisted that Russia and Ukraine are one country and that the Ukrainian government should fall.
