United for Change: Donja Jablanica Citizens Take to the Streets in Peaceful Protest, More to Come
Residents of Donje Jablanica Demand Answers from Authorities
Dissatisfied with the government’s response to the catastrophic floods, the residents of Donje Jablanica held a peaceful assembly to voice their concerns and demands.
Their primary demands include a thorough assessment of the safety of the quarry and the possible landslide, as well as expedited work on rebuilding housing facilities and providing immediate care to families left without homes.
Bakir Tufek, president of the local community, expressed frustration at the lack of response from authorities. “We are still waiting for the report of the Federal Geological Institute to assess whether it is safe here or not. Despite constant media reports indicating it is unsafe, we have not received any official information from institutions,” Tufek emphasized.
A meeting was held at 6:00 pm, lasting 20 minutes, and was attended by Emir Muratović, the new mayor of the Municipality of Jablanica, who arrived unannounced.
The meeting was followed by a peaceful walk, and the residents announced a new protest scheduled for Saturday at 5 pm.
