US Renews Commitment to End Conflict in Sudan
The United States has reaffirmed its dedication to collaborating with international partners to alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese people and achieve a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict.
The US Department of State announced that US Special Envoy to Sudan, Tom Perriello, embarked on a diplomatic trip to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Turkey, as part of urgent efforts to bring an end to the war and worsening humanitarian crisis in Sudan.
These efforts build upon the success of the “United to Save Lives and Peace in Sudan” initiative. Key diplomatic priorities include coordinating international efforts to pressure the Sudan Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces to expand humanitarian access and ensure the protection of civilians in accordance with international humanitarian and human rights law, as well as seeking a cessation of hostilities.
