Strengthening Vietnam-Laos Relations: A Path to Peace and Development

Enhancing Bilateral Cooperation

The two countries continue to consolidate and enhance the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, contributing to peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region and the world.

Fostering Regional Cooperation

The two leaders were pleased with the increasingly good development of the Vietnam-Laos-Cambodia relationship and highly valued and wished to promote cooperation between the three Parties and three countries, including implementing the results of the meeting between the three leaders of the three Parties as well as other tripartite cooperation mechanisms.

Economic and Trade Development

At the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone highly appreciated the results of cooperation between the two countries in the fields of economics, trade, investment, culture, education, science, and technology. They proposed a number of cooperation directions and specific measures to improve the effectiveness of cooperation.

Breaking Through Economic Barriers

The two Prime Ministers emphasized the need to create a breakthrough in economic and trade development to match the stature of political relations and the potential and strengths of each country. They focused on resolving the remaining issues in cooperation, promoting connectivity and complementarity between the two economies of Vietnam-Laos and between the three economies of Vietnam-Laos-Cambodia.

High-Level Meeting between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party

Leaders of the two countries attended the high-level meeting between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party. The leaders of the two Parties and countries agreed to actively implement the key orientations agreed upon by the leaders of both sides, continue to deepen political relations, and closely coordinate on strategic issues.

Strengthening Defense and Security Cooperation

The leaders of the two sides agreed to further strengthen and promote the pillar of cooperation in defense and security, increase timely information exchange, consultation, close coordination, and mutual support at international and regional forums.

Enhancing Cooperation in All Fields

The two sides affirmed the need to promote the effectiveness of existing mechanisms, continue to innovate and create to improve the effectiveness of cooperation in all fields, and build new suitable mechanisms to further strengthen the special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos.

Honoring Heroes and Martyrs

This morning, General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith and his wife, along with a high-ranking Lao delegation, laid wreaths at the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and laid wreaths at the Monument to Heroes and Martyrs on Bac Son Street, Hanoi.
