Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong Attends 21st ASEAN Chiefs of Defense Forces Meeting

At the invitation of the Chief of the General Staff of the Lao People’s Army, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong, member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Central Military Commission, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, and Deputy Minister of National Defense, led a high-ranking military delegation to attend the 21st ASEAN Chiefs of Defense Forces Meeting (ACDFM-21) in Vientiane, Laos, on September 4.

This meeting aims to affirm Vietnam’s positivity and proactiveness as a responsible member of ASEAN, particularly in ASEAN military-defense cooperation, while providing the highest level of support for the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, the ASEAN Chair in 2024.

During the meeting, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong will promote substantive military-defense cooperation among ASEAN countries, share views on world and regional issues, and seek ASEAN’s support for activities hosted by Vietnam in 2024.

As part of the planned activities, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong will have bilateral meetings with heads of delegations from several countries and attend an official reception.
