2024 Precious Sangmyung Hackathon with AWS: Fostering Innovation in AI and Software Development

Sangmyung University’s SW-centered University Business Group, in collaboration with Inha University’s SW-centered University Business Group and Amazon Web Services (AWS), successfully hosted the ‘2024 Precious Sangmyung Hackathon with AWS’ on the 6th.

The hackathon aimed to encourage the development of innovative ideas and solutions utilizing cloud-based artificial intelligence (AI) and big data technology. The event provided participating students with hands-on experience in AI utilization and software development.

About 60 students from Sangmyung University and Inha University participated in the hackathon competition, divided into 14 teams. Prior to the event, participants received training from AWS and refined their projects through special lectures and meetings.

Following team-by-team idea meetings and mentoring, participants presented various software projects on topics such as technology-based campus, global, convergence, and lifelong learning. A grand prize team, two best prize teams, and three excellent prize teams were selected based on the originality, completeness, technicality, structure, and presentation skills of the projects.

Jang Jun-ho, head of the SW Centered University Business Group at Sangmyung University, expressed his enthusiasm for the event, stating, “As the hackathon competition continues, I can feel that the level of students’ projects is getting higher and higher.” He added, “I hope that students’ software projects can be widely commercialized within a few years.”
