Unmasking the Mystery of the Burning Smell: A Monitor Malfunction Story

The source of the burning smell was not the power strip!

– Two months ago I disassembled the new monitor I bought and smelled it in the rear BESA hole, and a smell came from there >.

(I sent the two month old monitor to A/S, replaced it with the monitor above and installed it on the main computer. I use it until Thursday/Friday/Saturday morning and there is no burning smell at all.)

The burning smell around the PC made me quite stressed last week!!

Immediately after replacing the power strip, everything seemed fine for a day, so I assumed it was a power strip issue.

Last week, while using the PC, I noticed a burning smell again.

I concluded that it was a problem with the newly purchased monitor I was using.

1. I removed the new monitor and installed another one to cross-test, but the smell continued, so I decided it wasn’t a monitor issue.

When cross-testing, I placed a new monitor in the same workspace, and although it wasn’t plugged in, the smell from the monitor still wafted into the small workspace.

2. I tested it by changing the power strip, the LAN cable and even the PC itself, but I never thought there could be a problem with the new monitor I bought. He

3. During the week I contacted the manufacturer’s customer service and it has now been called back. I think we can probably talk about the monitor repair next week.

4. The burning smell can be ambiguous, but when you were young, if you went to a radio shop, there was a strange burning smell, like the smell of welding, right? That smell continues to be faint, but as it fills the small lab, it’s quite stressful for someone who sits at a computer all day working and smelling this all the time.

5. Since I sent it to A/S, I think I will be able to know the results by next week.

I only use monitors from this company, from the main computer to the secondary computer (except the instrument computer), and this is the first time I smell this kind of smell, so I was quite embarrassed and surprised.

Now that I know the cause is the monitor, I would like to find a solution somehow.

(I guess I should say it’s lucky I managed to rearrange everything from the LAN cable to the power strip trying to figure out the source of this smell, right? Haha)

It’s really cold today. I’m going on a business trip to an area now and don’t want to get home until early morning or tomorrow. It’s really cold outside and people tell you to watch out for black ice wherever you go for work. The day I go is market day ㅜㅜ

I hope you will take care of your health in this cold weather and have a happy and fun holiday season.
