Unraveling the Mystery of the Titan: The Tragic Ocean Gate Disaster

It has been almost a year since the tragedy of the spaceship Titan built by the Ocean Gate Company, where 5 people were killed including the founder of the company. The tragedy that shocked the world was on June 18. It was concluded that a fault in the pressure chamber where they were sitting in the probe caused the explosion.

US authorities have carried out DNA tests on the remains of passengers recovered from the ocean floor, along with the wrecked water probe Titan. The mystery of the maritime disaster is not completely over yet

Hamish Harding, the British businessman and chairman of Action Aviation Company in Dubai, Shahzada Dawood, billionaire and vice chairman of Engro, an international company based in Karachi, Pakistan, his son Sulaiman, the pilot of the explorer, French citizen Paul Henri Narsale, and Stockton Rush, founder and CEO of Ocean Gate Company, in the probe. The explorer went missing on 18 June. On June 23, it was confirmed that all five passengers had been killed.

Now, the Titan Ocean Gate spacecraft may be the victim of microbuckling, according to the head of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Texas. According to researchers led by Roberto Ballarini. Let’s check what factors are behind this problem.

Small Imperfections, Big Problems: Micro-buckling refers to small deformations in a material (metal) caused by extreme pressure such as water. These may have occurred in the strong carbon fiber of the underwater, with imperfections overlooked during construction or accumulated over time.

Deep Ocean Pressure: Ocean pressure at around 13,000 feet can be enormous. These small defects would have acted as weak points causing the carbon fiber to bend inwards.

Material concerns: Titan’s design incorporates alloys, which some experts believe may be more susceptible to micro-buckling compared to traditional metals.

It should be noted that this is just a theory. Researchers have not been able to pinpoint the exact cause of the Titan disaster. Other factors may also be involved, such as design weaknesses or another form of structural failure.

This is how it happened

Titan was the Oceangate Company’s transoceanic exploration vehicle and claimed to have completed more than fourteen explorations and more than 200 dives in the Pacific, Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico in two submersibles. The Titanic was launched for the first time in 2021. The success rate for the transoceanic journey for the Titanic, which the company called experimental, was only about 14 percent.

June 18, 2023: The submersible of the Titan begins its descent to the wreck of the Titanic. The US Coast Guard lost contact with the mothership within two hours.

June 19, 2023: The US Coast Guard and various agencies begin a deep sea search for the Titan.

June 20, 2023: Descending into the wreckage of the Titanic, the submarine discovers a massive explosion. Find the remains.

June 29, 2023: The US Coast Guard says it has found human remains in the wreckage of the Titanic.
