[Xiaoyan report compiled by South American Overseas Chinese News Network]Recently, a bizarre incident occurred in the town of San Pedro Garza García, Nuevo León, Nuevo León, Mexico. A black bear broke into the hotel, approached customers who were dining, and slapped a female customer in the face.
The Mexican website “yucatan” reported that online video showed that on November 2, in the restaurant of the Hotel Chipinque in this town, a black bear suddenly appeared at the dining table and began to eat the food on the table. The couple who were dining were too scared to move.
Some people tried to drive the black bear away with sticks, but then the bear suddenly slapped the diner on the face with its two front paws, causing the woman to turn her head to the other side. However, after the attack, the bear left the restaurant and the couple immediately got out of their seats while the other man chased the bear with a stick. No casualties were reported.
This video caused heated discussions on the Internet. Some netizens defended the black bear’s behavior, believing that the bear’s own habitat was occupied, which led to its arrival in human activities.
The Dirección General de Parques y Vida Silvestre of Nuevo Leon state issued a notice saying that in order to protect the safety of animals and citizens, the black bear will be relocated to a safe place. The report stated that the bear showed a habit of approaching humans to obtain food, and authorities needed to rescue it.
In addition, the General Administration stated that it only learned of the attack through the media, which means that the hotel where the incident occurred did not take the initiative to report and seek help. The General Administration is concerned about the increase in the number of such animal attacks and is investigating whether the hotel complies with wildlife protection regulations.
The General Administration reminds citizens that feeding will affect the survival behavior of wild animals or endanger the lives of black bears and other bears.
It is reported that although the Chippink Hotel is located in the park reserve, it is operated independently and is not managed by the park. However, hotel partners have been invited to participate in training on wildlife management to ensure the safety of visitors and fauna.
