Czechoslovak Group (CSG), a defense and industrial conglomerate with Czech roots, is advancing toward an initial public offering in Amsterdam that values the company at 25 billion euros. The move comes as the defense manufacturer experiences rapid growth driven largely by the ongoing war in Ukraine.
Rapid Expansion and Public Offering Details
The defense firm has expanded swiftly in recent years, growing its revenues from 550 million euros in 2020 to four billion euros in 2024, according to data cited from the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute. Company owner Michal Strnad will offer 15 % of the company to investors during the market entry, aiming to raise 3.3 billion euros. Out of that total, approximately 2.55 billion euros will go directly to the owner for selling a portion of his shares, while 750 million euros will flow straight into the company from the issuance of new stock. Trading of the shares is set to begin on the secondary market following strong institutional demand. The initial public offering drew intense investor interest, with orders fully subscribed within minutes of opening. Portfolio managers and analysts note that the company selected a balanced valuation method, offering shares at a baseline price of 25 euros.
Market Valuation and Profit Margins
Market analysts view the 25-billion-euro valuation as a conservative and fair figure compared to initial market speculation. Anna Píchová, an analyst with One Family Office, stated that defense firms continue to trade at higher historical multiples given current market conditions near their peaks. Štěpán Hájek, a portfolio manager for the J&T Wood Defense fund, added that valuation estimates for the group had ranged between 35 and 37 billion euros prior to the finalized pricing. Operating margins for the conglomerate are projected to remain stable or grow slightly over the short and medium term. Hájek pointed out that profitability will be supported by the full integration of internal production components, including a facility manufacturing nitrocellulose, which serves as a critical input for large-caliber ammunition production.
