As rumors of North Korea’s ‘imminent 7th nuclear test’ rear their heads, the US military’s unmanned attack aircraft (drone) ‘MQ-9 Reaper’, known as ‘the killer in the air’, has to use in Japan.

The US Indo-Pacific Command recently held a re-launch ceremony for the US 319th Expeditionary Reconnaissance Battalion (ERS), which operates the MQ-9 Reaper, and the induction ceremony for the commander , Lt. Col. Alexander Kelly, at Kanoya Air Base of the Maritime Self-Defense Forces in Kagoshima, Japan.

Analysts say this is the first time the MQ-9 Reaper has been deployed in the Indo-Pacific region with the intention of keeping a close eye on North Korea’s 7th nuclear test and the conflict between China and Taiwan.

The ‘MQ-9 Reaper’ developed by an American military company is nicknamed ‘the killer in the air’ because it can accurately hit enemies thousands of kilometers away as well as collect and monitor information.

Qasem Soleimani, commander of the Quds Force of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, was reportedly attacked by an MQ-9 Reaper, which was attacked and fired upon while moving in a vehicle at Baghdad Airport in Iraq in 2020.

Meanwhile, the National Intelligence Service (NIS) said in a business report at a plenary meeting of the intelligence committee on the 28th of last month, “The possibility of a nuclear test has increased since the Punggye Tunnel -ri 3 North Korea be completed. “It is likely between November 7th, before the mid-term elections.”
