As anti-war protests spread on US university campuses and led to illegal occupations, US authorities took a hard-line response.

The police entered Columbia University, the epicenter of the protests, and forcibly dispersed the sit-in protesters.

The political burden on President Biden increases before the presidential election in November.

The police approach the building using a tactical vehicle with a ladder.

They then broke the window and entered, and after a while, the protesters sitting in the building were dragged out.

New York police entered Columbia University’s ‘Hamilton Hall’ the day before Labor Day and dispersed protesters who had taken over by surprise.

“About 300 people were arrested at Columbia University and City College.

Hamilton Hall is a symbol of student protests and served as a center for protesters opposing the Vietnam War in 1968.

“Students have been on the right side of history at Columbia and other universities since the 1960s.”

US authorities have currently counted at least 32 college campuses with anti-war protests.

However, as the protests gradually become more illegal, the intensity of the response from authorities such as universities and the police also increases.

At the University of California, Los Angeles, the police had to be called in as pro-Palestinian and pro-Israel protesters clashed with each other.

As protests intensify, President Biden, who has maintained a cautious stance, is also being asked to take a clear stance.

“Americans have the right to peacefully protest against legislation. It is very important. And we must also condemn hate. We must condemn anti-Semitism.”

According to recently released public opinion polls, President Biden’s approval ratings are plummeting among young people under the age of 30, his core support base.

Additionally, if additional casualties occur due to Israel’s ground battle in Rafah, there are concerns that anti-war protests in the United States will spread uncontrollably.
