The US White House explained on 2nd local time that President Joe Biden had mentioned the possibility of talking to Russian President Vladimir Putin the day before, saying, “President Biden has no intention of talking to Putin on this of time.”

“Putin shows no interest in any dialogue, and his actions show that he wants to continue an illegal and meaningless war,” John Kirby, head of the White House National Security Council’s Strategic Communications Coordinator, said in a video briefing.

President Biden said in a press conference after the summit with French President Emmanuel Macron the day before, “If President Putin is interested in deciding to find a way to end the war, I ready to talk to him.” There were comments that he suggested the possibility of discussions by saying.

However, Coordinator Kirby said, “President Biden made absolutely no suggestion that now is the time to talk.” We have consistently stated that we can decide what the conditions are.”

“The role of the United States is to continue to support Ukraine’s performance on the battlefield so that it has as much negotiating power as possible in future negotiations with Russia,” Kirby said.
