British Trio ‌and Nelly Korda ‌in Contention at US Women’s Open

Charley Hull, ‍Gemma dryburgh, and Lottie⁢ Woad, along with world No. 1 ​Nelly Korda, ‌are positioned four strokes​ behind the leaders ⁣after the ​opening round of the‌ US Women’s ⁣Open. The US women’s Open is known for its competitive field, and this year is no different.

The British ‌trio and Korda are at⁢ even par ​on a tightly packed leaderboard at Erin Hills in Wisconsin. Angel Yin and ​2020‍ champion A ‍Lim kim are ⁤among six players tied for the ​lead at 4-under after a day where 58 players managed ‍to shoot par or better. The golf tournament is proving to be a challenging⁢ one.

Hull recovered from a slow​ start, ⁣carding birdies‍ on the 12th and‌ 16th holes​ to finish with a 72. Dryburgh also posted a 72, overcoming early bogeys with birdies on ​the 13th and 14th. Woad, the 2024 Augusta National⁣ Women’s Amateur champion, was 3-under through 10 holes but⁤ stumbled with a double-bogey on the 17th.

Korda, a two-time major winner, recorded one bogey and ⁣one birdie in her round of 72.The golf competition is fierce,with manny ⁣top players⁣ vying for the title.

“I can’t complain,” Korda said.”First day, it’s‌ all ⁣about patience. I’m striking it⁤ pretty well, so hopefully I can carry that into the⁢ next couple ⁤days.”
