Camp Randall Stadium Shakes Up the Big Ten
Saturday night in Madison featured two massive capital investments colliding on national television. While USC and Wisconsin both showcase multibillion-dollar facility renovations as symbols of institutional permanence, only the Badgers saw their investment pay off on the field. Wisconsin head coach Luke Fickell watched his program grind out 200 total yards while dominating time of possession through three sustained touchdown drives lasting over 5 ½ minutes each.

Wisconsin running back Bryan Jackson II highlighted the physical disparity between the two squads after rushing for 38 yards and a go-ahead touchdown before halftime. We played the harder football game, brought it to them and they can’t really do nothing with us,
Jackson said in Sports Illustrated’s reporting. The victory signaled that the program led by Fickell is in a better place and positioned the program for a potential CFP run.
Trojan Offense Collapses in Madison
USC arrived at Camp Randall Stadium with everything breaking in its favor, including a Heisman candidate at quarterback in Jayden Maiava and a preseason roster built to Riley’s exact specifications. Instead, the Trojans mustered only a single touchdown, committed two turnovers, surrendered five sacks, and finished with -17 rushing yards. A fourth-quarter sequence encapsulated the team’s disarray when Maiava took a crucial sack on third down near midfield, followed immediately by a delay-of-game penalty that ruined a 58-yard field goal attempt.
Really disappointing game. Just flat out didn’t play good on any of the three sides of the ball. Didn’t coach good enough, made critical errors on the road against a good football team.
Lincoln Riley
Riley shouldered the blame during a postgame press conference that was cut short by a school press officer after just over seven minutes. I’ll get back and study it but I can’t look at one group and say, ‘Man, that group was outstanding,’
Riley told reporters as documented by Sports Illustrated. You need groups to step up and we just didn’t.
Boosters Weigh a Massive Buyout Decision
The price tag to remove Riley and bring in a new staff is liable to tick upwards of $100 million, an immense figure even for a university backed by a group of boosters that has more billionaires than any other school in the country. Securing a spot in the CFP will require the Trojans to win out, as they still must face three formidable opponents currently in the top 10: Ohio State, Indiana, and UCLA. According to Sports Illustrated, failure by USC to make a leadership change amounts to wasting good money on a failing enterprise while leaving the construction zone around Heritage Hall permanently unfinished.
