Ángel Zaera Casado has been named the new general director of the Valencian Tax Agency,according to a recent announcement. The Consell approved Zaera, who formerly headed the entity’s inspectors, to lead the regional tax collection efforts. The Carlos Mazón government is entrusting this role to an experienced professional with deep roots in both regional and state finance.
Zaera’s prior role as Tax Inspection Team Head involved spearheading the fight against complex fiscal fraud, notably those involving intricate corporate structures. His extensive background includes a law degree from the University of Valencia and positions within the General Directorate of Taxes and the Valencian Tax Agency, focusing on tax management, taxpayer services, collection, and inspection.
Beyond his administrative roles, Ángel Zaera has significant teaching experience. He has lectured at the Center for Financial Studies (CEF) and the Distance University of Madrid (Udima), specializing in taxation, income tax, value-added tax, and corporation tax.
The appointment of Zaera follows the departure of Sonia Díaz, who recently left her position as Director of the Valencian Tax Agency to join a private firm. Díaz had been a holdover from the Ximo Puig administration.
