Thierry Vermeulen and Ben Green secured victory in the GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup season finale, converting a pole-position start into a win at the end of the one-hour race. While the Emil Frey Racing duo dominated at the front in their Ferrari 296 GT3, the early stages of the race brought immediate chaos and severe trouble for the already-crowned champion.
Chaos on the Opening Lap and Struggles for Feller
While Vermeulen and Green successfully defended their advantage from the front of the grid, the opening lap saw multiple collisions that completely shook up the field and brought out the safety car. Among those caught in the early drama was already-feststehende Meister Ricardo Feller, who was hit in a chain reaction during the first corner and dropped all the way to the back of the field. The chaotic start also resulted in immediate retirements for David Pittard, Alex Malykhin, and Matisse Lismont.
Emil Frey Racing Wins as Ferrari Takes Second
At the checkered flag, Thomas Neubauer and Arthur Leclerc crossed the finish line in second place in their AF Corse Ferrari, trailing the winning Emil Frey Racing entry by 4.454 seconds after one hour of racing. Ariel Levi and Andrea Frassineti completed the overall podium in third position driving a Tresor Attempto Racing Audi, a result that also secured the Silver Cup victory for the Attempto duo. Later in the event, another neutralisation was called during the pit stop window to recover the Porsche of Sven Müller after he rolled to a halt.
Top Ten Race Results
Further down the top ten in the final race results, Loris Spinelli and Mattia Michelotto finished fourth in a VSR Lamborghini Temerario GT3, followed by Dani Juncadella and Chris Lulham in fifth driving for Mercedes-AMG Team Verstappen Racing in a Mercedes-AMG GT3.
