Video: “Al-Youm” monitors a partial closure of Jeddah Corniche due to high sea waves

On Friday, Al-Youm lens monitored the partial closure of one of the sites on the Jeddah Corniche, after the Red Sea waves rose significantly and reached the sidewalks adjacent to the Corniche.
The Jeddah Municipality’s machinery and equipment were present at the site, where cleaning and maintenance work began to remove what was left by the water on the Corniche as a result of the high waves.

Active winds

The rise in Red Sea waves in Jeddah comes due to the active winds that the city witnessed today, as the National Center of Meteorology warned of this in today’s weather report.

The center explained that northerly to northwesterly winds at a speed of 25-50 km/h in the northern and central parts, and southwesterly to northwesterly winds at a speed of 15-45 km/h in the southern part, are the reason behind the high waves.
The center expected the wave height in the Red Sea to range from one and a half to two and a half metres, while the sea state would range from moderate to wavy.
