On August 28, 2024, the Père Henri Souchon school marked a turning point by opening the Oasis de Paix Educational and Vocational Training Center in Pointe aux Sables.

Launched more than 18 years ago by the Curé of the Immaculate Conception and Monique Leung, this project expands to offer struggling students a second chance.

Amédée Poupard, head of the educational institution’s board of directors, thanked the National Social Inclusion Institute and the Mauritius Training and Development Institute for their support to the 80 young people who were welcomed.

For the Minister of Education, Leela Devi Dookun Luchoomun, this collaboration is part of the dynamics of educational reform that the government has been implementing for almost a decade.

Menon Munien told Maurice Info that this original project fits perfectly with the mission of his organization.

Hairdressing, pastry, wood, metal and welding workshops, visitors noted the quality of the training for young people who want to find their place in the world of work in a few years.
