Vienna Boys and Girls Choirs announce US tours and 2026-2027 schedules

The Wiener Chormädchen are preparing for their first concert tour of the United States in the spring, according to an announcement made by the agency Opus 3 Artists. The ensemble of young singers will tour eastern state cultural centers, festivals, and churches, a development Sängerknaben President Erich Arthold called a crucial milestone for the choir’s growth.
International Tours and Major Debuts Planned for 2026 and 2027
Before heading to the United States in the spring, the Chormädchen are scheduled for a debut at the Vienna Philharmonic’s New Year’s Concert on January 1, 2027. Exactly 50 years after the Sängerknaben made their debut at the event, the girls will perform alone for the first time. On June 11, the young singers will travel as musical ambassadors to the Expo 2027 world exhibition in Belgrade. The Berlin Girls' Choir has also been invited to perform alongside its Austrian counterpart in Vienna on May 14, 2027. The boys’ choir is also expanding its travel schedule, with a United States tour starting in Washington state in October 2026. Organizers noted that Christmas in Vienna performances will follow in Wisconsin in November, leading up to holiday dates at Carnegie Hall. International dates for the Sängerknaben continue through China, Taiwan, and Germany this year, followed by Switzerland, Spain, Japan, South Korea, and their first trip to Australia since 2017 during 2027. The boys are also booked for the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival from July 29 to 31, 2027.
Concert Series at Campus Augarten and Vienna Venues
During a season presentation at Campus Augarten, the choirs announced a dedicated concert subscription for the MuTh venue in the Vienna Augarten. Titled “Wir sind Campus,” the series features opera performances of “The Fairy Queen” in November 2026, a New Year’s concert on January 15, and a preview of the Chormädchen’s U.S. program on March 17, 2027. Closer to home, several December events are scheduled in Austria. The older Chorus Juventus will perform at an advent concert in St. Stephen’s Cathedral on December 16. The Sängerknaben and the Mädchenchor will join the RSO Wien for “Christmas in Vienna” on December 16 and 17. Throughout December, the choirs will perform seasonal pieces alongside the Schubert Academy under the title “Gute Hirten.” The Sängerknaben are also slated to perform Benjamin Britten’s “War Requiem” with the Vienna Philharmonic across three days in December. Volksschuldirektor Markus Semelliker highlighted a visit to the Hofburg for the Federal President’s inclusive Christmas party as a holiday highlight for the children.
Spring Performances and New Repertoire
The Wiener Hofmusikkapelle confirmed performances of Bach’s “St. Matthew Passion” at the Musikverein on March 13 and 14, followed by a traditional Mother’s Day concert on May 9. Director Ursula Magnes, who stepped into the role in September, confirmed that the group intends to sing Sunday masses through the end of June, including a Beethoven C major mass for Easter Sunday. Thirteen Friday concerts at MuTh were also announced. The Chorus Juventus highlighted a performance of Dvořák’s “Stabat Mater” on April 9, which a choir member noted has never been sung in the history of Campus Augarten. Meanwhile, the youngest singers in the association, the Chorus Primus, are preparing a production titled “Esmeralda” about the secret life of pirates, scheduled for April. Semelliker explained the project during the program preview, where the children performed the Italian number “Occhi grandi” and the English musical piece “Seasons of Love.”
