Typhoon Buoloi Claims Lives and Leaves Dozens Missing in Vietnam
The death toll from Typhoon Buoloi in Vietnam has risen to 11, as authorities continue to assess the widespread damage caused by the powerful storm. the typhoon brought destructive winds that tore roofs from buildings and uprooted trees and power lines across several provinces.
The most significant loss of life occurred in Ninh Binh province, where at least nine people perished when a funnel cloud – a rotating column of air connected to the typhoon – swept through the area in the early hours of September 29th. Further casualties were reported in the provinces of Huế and Thanh Hóa, with two additional deaths confirmed, according to local and national disaster management officials.
Search and rescue operations are underway,with approximately 20 people currently reported missing. Authorities are working to provide aid and support to those affected by the storm, focusing on restoring essential services and providing shelter for displaced residents.
“The immediate priority is to locate the missing individuals and ensure the safety and well-being of those who have been impacted by this devastating typhoon,” stated a representative from the National Committee for Disaster Response.
