Villa’s Tacos Makes Unexpected Super Bowl Appearance with Bad Bunny
Villa’s Tacos, a celebrated Los Angeles eatery, found itself center stage during Super Bowl LX on Sunday, February 8, 2026, not by setting up shop outside Levi’s Stadium, but through a cameo in Bad Bunny’s electrifying halftime show.
As Bad Bunny launched into his performance, he moved through a set designed to evoke a Puerto Rican street scene. During his rendition of “Tití Me Preguntó,” the artist paused at a stand selling piraguas – traditional Puerto Rican shaved ice – and then handed the treat to Victor Villa, the owner of Villa’s Tacos, who stood behind a cart prominently displaying the restaurant’s branding.
Villa, who began his culinary journey with a pop-up in the Highland Park neighborhood in 2018, shared his gratitude on Instagram, reflecting on his family’s immigrant experience. “We sold our first taco in the front yard of my grandma’s house in Highland Park more than 8 years ago & I feel that every taco along the way brought me here. Today. For this moment!” he wrote. He continued, acknowledging the sacrifices his parents made when they immigrated to the United States in pursuit of a better life.
The Highland Park taqueria has garnered significant acclaim, earning a place on the Los Angeles Times’ 101 Best Restaurants list three times. It also holds a spot in the prestigious Michelin Guide, recognized for its innovative approach to tacos. Bill Addison, a restaurant critic for the Los Angeles Times, has described the restaurant’s creations as “deftly engineered chaos,” praising its ability to embody the spirit of ambition and determination that defines Los Angeles.
Villa’s Tacos’ journey to Super Bowl fame isn’t new. The restaurant was previously featured on Season 3 of the Netflix series “Taco Chronicles,” further solidifying its reputation as a culinary destination. The restaurant currently operates three locations: two in Highland Park and one within Grand Central Market in downtown Los Angeles.
Following the performance, Villa again expressed his appreciation to Bad Bunny on Instagram, stating, “It’s crazy where a taco can take you.” The unexpected appearance has generated considerable buzz, highlighting the restaurant’s growing influence and its connection to the vibrant cultural landscape of Los Angeles.
The Super Bowl appearance comes as Los Angeles prepares to host several major sporting events, including matches during the FIFA 2026 World Cup and another Super Bowl at SoFi Stadium in February 2027. Villa’s Tacos’ moment in the spotlight underscores the city’s dynamic energy and its ability to showcase local businesses on a global stage.
