Violation of residence, employment and border laws: 16,000 arrested in Saudi Arabia in ten days

Riyadh: In Saudi Arabia, 16,000 people were arrested in the last ten days in cases of breaking the law. So many people are caught in violation of immigration, employment and border security laws. The arrest was announced in the official report released by Saudi Arabia This number of people were arrested for breaking the law in the period between January 5 and 15. 6732 people were arrested for breaking the rules of residence. At the same time, the authorities informed that 4180 people were arrested for breaking the border security laws. 2822 people were arrested for breaking the labor laws.

620 people were arrested for trying to enter the country illegally. Sixty-five percent of those who tried to enter the country in this way are Yemenis. Thirty percent are Ethiopian citizens and about five percent are from other countries. At the same time, around 71 people were arrested for trying to cross the border illegally from the country to other countries. The authorities said that around sixteen people have been arrested for providing accommodation and travel facilities to those who break the border law.

Those who cross the border and help people enter Saudi Arabia illegally face a maximum sentence of fifteen years in prison and one million Saudi Riyals. Members of the public can provide information about violations of border laws or assistance to illegal border crossers. Authorities can provide information about the toll-free number 911 from the Makkah area and 999 and 996 for those from other areas.
