Viral Victory: SKT’s Digital Campaign Smashes Records with 4.3 Million YouTube Views and Counting
SK Telecom’s Digital Campaign Videos Exceed 4.3 Million Views
SK Telecom’s digital campaign videos, a short film and a fake documentary, have surpassed 4.3 million combined views on its official YouTube channel. The videos, posted with the caption “We will alert you to dopamine addiction caused by AI,” have garnered a positive response from consumers, with many praising the fresh idea and engaging content.
The fake documentary video, which contains AI’s efforts to teach ethics and guidelines, has gained 2.14 million views, while the short film “Addiction: Only Visible to Me” has reached 2.17 million views. The combined views exceeded 4.31 million in just a few days after their release.
SK Telecom, a mobile communications company, has declared its goal to become a global AI company and is focusing on its AI business. The digital campaign video aims to solve problems caused by AI technology using AI, with the theme “AI Knots Untie” (結者解之).
The campaign content deals with the topic of dopamine addiction, a social problem emerging due to the flood of provocative content and the development of AI technology. As a global AI company, SK Telecom raises awareness about dopamine addiction caused by AI development.
The fake documentary episode features Oh Sang-wook, a fencing grand slam winner, and expresses the consequences of losing focus due to dopamine addiction. The short film ”Addiction: Only Visible to Me” stars actress Kim Hyang-gi as a fencing player who gradually becomes addicted to dopamine. The scenario was drafted using SK Telecom’s Large Language Model (LLM), ‘A.X’, with director Jang Jae-hyun advising on the project.
Consumers have responded positively to the campaign videos, with one viewer writing, “The overflow of stimulating and short content made me think about my attitude in the future society.” Another viewer praised the short film, saying, “Instead of ending with a short film, they should make a feature-length film.”
Jaeheon Jeong, SK Telecom’s head of external cooperation (President), stated, “It is time to set a direction toward a more ‘healthy AI’ from an ethical standpoint. We have established AI governance to prevent harm caused by AI and maintain public trust.”
SK Telecom is also conducting research collaboration with Yonsei University’s Barun ICT Research Institute on dopamine addiction, aiming to analyze the correlation and suggest a direction for solving the problem.
