According to the media, Prigozhin of the Wagner group, which Putin assembled for the invasion of Ukraine, urged Putin to end the war through a video posted on Telegram late the night before.

“Russia has already taken control over a significant part of the territory of Ukraine,” Prigozhin said. “Putin must now declare to the world that the objectives of the ‘special military operation’ have been achieved.”

Prigozhin also stressed that “it is time for the Russian army to defend its gains at the cost of heavy losses.”

Prigozhin also warned that the Russian people could look for scapegoats for military failures as the war in Ukraine drags on, which could escalate into “the fiercest revolution.”

Prigozhin urged Russia to disable a significant part of the male population of Ukraine and force them to flee the country, and that “there is an immediate need for the sake of the regime and society as a whole to stop the special military operation completely.”

“The ideal option would be to declare the end of the special military operation and let everyone know that Russia has achieved results as planned,” he reiterated.
