TOKYO (AP) — A high-ranking Chinese official has called for strengthened cooperation between China and Japan, citing global instability.
Wang Yi,a member of teh Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission,met with representatives of seven Japan-China friendship groups on Monday. He emphasized the importance of bilateral cooperation.
Wang stated that China is committed to working with other nations to ensure peace and security in Asia, and also to advance human development.
As nearby neighbors and two significant global economies, China and Japan must reassess the value of their relationship, reaffirm the importance of their friendship, reinforce mutually beneficial cooperation, and consolidate the strength of pleasant ties between peoples to promote the sustained, healthy and stable development of Chinese-Japan relations,
wang said.
He acknowledged the long-term dedication of the friendship groups and encouraged them to continue promoting peaceful cooperation.
Wang outlined three key areas for strengthening ties: maintaining political foundations, expanding dialog and exchanges across various sectors, and cultivating future generations for Chinese friendship.
