Apparently heavy fighting after the end of the ceasefire

7.55 a.m.: Immediately after the temporary ceasefire expired, there were indications of heavy fighting in the Gaza Strip. From Chan Yunis in the south of the coastal area, a witness reported hearing noises that suggested heavy shelling. Smoke rises over the east of the city. People are fleeing to camps west of Khan Yunis. The news channel Al-Jazeera reported that there were deaths and injuries. The Israeli military says Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip are being attacked with fighter jets.

Netanyahu reaffirms his goals in the fight against Hamas

7:41 a.m.: After the resumption of fighting in the Gaza Strip, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reiterates Israel’s goals. Netanyahu said through his office that these were the liberation of the hostages in the Gaza Strip and the destruction of Hamas. It must be ensured that Hamas never again poses a threat to Israeli citizens.

Netanyahu accuses the radical Palestinian organization of violating the agreements in the ceasefire that expired this morning. Hamas did not release all female hostages as agreed and also fired rockets into Israel.

Israel resumes fighting in the Gaza Strip

6.15 a.m.: The Israeli army says it has resumed fighting in the Gaza Strip against the Islamist Hamas. The army announced this on Friday morning after the end of the week-long ceasefire.

On the X platform, formerly Twitter, the Israeli army accused the terrorist organization of violating the ceasefire. Hamas also shelled Israeli territory. Israel said it intercepted a rocket fired from the Gaza Strip in the hours before the ceasefire expired. Palestinian media reported Israeli attacks in the north of the Gaza Strip.

Deadline for ceasefire has expired

6 o’clock: The ceasefire agreed between Hamas and Israel expired on Friday morning. So far there has been no official notification of an extension. However, there were media reports that night (see entry from 3:44 a.m.) according to which the ceasefire was to be extended by one day.

Israel: Rocket fired from Gaza Strip

4:55 a.m.: According to the Israeli broadcaster Kan, rocket sirens are wailing in the Israeli areas near the border with the Gaza Strip. It is the first such incident since the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas began on November 24. The Israeli army reported that it had intercepted a rocket from the Gaza Strip.

Report: Ceasefire will be extended

3:44 a.m.: According to a media report, the ceasefire between Israel and the radical Islamic Hamas has been extended. Israel and Hamas have agreed to an eighth-day extension, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday, citing Egyptian officials.

Israeli soldiers apparently mistakenly shoot helpers

1:55 a.m.: A civilian who courageously attacked the attackers in the terrorist attack in Jerusalem was accidentally shot by Israeli soldiers, according to media reports. He died from his serious injuries in hospital one day before his 38th birthday, several Israeli media reported on Thursday evening, citing the treating clinic.

The man saw the attackers shooting at people at a bus stop, spontaneously jumped out of the car and shot at the attackers with his own weapon.
