Wasim Akram Dismisses Fixing Allegation Against Rohit Sharma

Allegations of Toss Favoritism: Wasim Akram Responds

Legendary Pakistani cricketer, Wasim Akram, has weighed in on the controversy surrounding the semi-final match between India and New Zealand, addressing allegations of toss favoritism against Indian player Rohit Sharma.

Akram refuted claims made by former Pakistani player, Sikander Bakht, suggesting that Sharma had tampered with the toss to gain an advantage. Bakht had alleged that Sharma threw the coin too far from New Zealand captain Kane Williamson during the crucial match, making it difficult for him to observe the outcome.

However, Akram dismissed these allegations, stating, “There is no set rule dictating where the coin should land during the toss. For sponsorship reasons, wherever it lands on the mat is sufficient.” Akram went on to denounce such allegations as “shameful,” expressing his disappointment in the controversy.

Furthermore, former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan also criticized Bakht, accusing him of attempting to gain publicity by tarnishing the reputation of Indian cricket.

As the cricketing world continues to grapple with this controversy, the response from revered figures like Akram and Pathan has shed new light on the situation, emphasizing the need for fair play and sportsmanship in the game of cricket.

Legendary player Wasim Akram against Rohit Sharma for tidying up in the semi-final against New Zealand.

Akram countered former Pakistan player Sikander Bakht’s statement that Rohit Sharma had worked to favor the toss.

Bakht claimed that Rohit Sharma threw the coin too far from where New Zealand captain Kane Williamson was standing during the semi-final match.

Bakht said that Kane Williamson could not see who favored the toss in this situation and that Rohit Sharma was trying to make the toss in his favour.

Bakht added that the game could be turned in India’s favor with this.

Wasim Akram disagreed with this. Waseem Akram said there is no set rule where the coin should land during the toss, and for sponsorship reasons, wherever it lands on the mat is sufficient.

Wasim Akram said such statements are shameful. Akram said this in an interview to A Sports.

‘Who can say where the coin will land during the toss? Matt is there for sponsorship reasons. I feel ashamed when I hear all this,’ said Akram.

Apart from Wasim Akram, former Indian star Irfan Pathan also criticized Bakht. Pathan said this was just Bakht’s attempt to gain fame by tarnishing Indian cricket.
