Al Hilal qualified for the final of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup with a dramatic victory over Al Ittihad Jeddah 2-1 on Tuesday.

At the Radiant Jewel Stadium, the referee canceled an early goal for Al-Ittihad, scored by Moroccan Abdel Razzaq Hamdallah in the eighth minute, due to offside after returning to the video assistant referee (VAR) technology.

Brazilian Michel de Oliveira succeeded in scoring the first goal for Al Hilal in the 25th minute, benefiting from a pass by his colleague Malcolm de Oliveira.

Al-Hilal suffered a strong shock 3 minutes before the end of the first half when its Serbian midfielder was sent off. Sergej Milinkovic-Savic responded after a violent intervention against Ahmed Mazen Al-Ghamdi, as the referee used video technology before announcing the red card.

9 minutes before the end, and despite the numerical shortage, Saud Abdul Hamid was able to score the winning goal for Al Hilal, with the help of Malcolm de Oliveira.

The current season witnessed a series of meetings between Al-Ittihad and Al-Hilal, which is a record number of confrontations between two Saudi teams during one season, which reached 7 meetings.

Al-Hilal achieved record victories against Al-Ittihad, achieving the full mark, as it won all seven matches that brought them together this season, thus continuing Al-Ittihad’s suffering after it emerged empty-handed from all the tournaments it competed in this season, “the League, the Super League, the Asian Champions, and the Arab Championship.”

The beginning of the confrontations between Al-Ittihad and Al-Hilal this season was last August in the quarter-finals of the King Salman Cup for Arab Clubs, where Al-Hilal won 3-1, and then they met in early September for the fifth round of the Roshan League, where Al-Hilal won at the City Stadium. It is noteworthy that Al-Ittihad’s last victory over Al-Hilal was in April 2021 for the 25th round of the Professional League, and Al-Ittihad won 2-0 on that day.
