A short video circulated on the Internet showing a “fishing”-style theft process by a culprit extending a bamboo from the window of a building unit into the house. The footage shows that the culprit reached into the unit through a long bamboo equipped with an iron hook and snatched a handbag from the owner. It is understood that the case occurred yesterday (22nd) afternoon. The location of the incident was a unit on the 10th floor of Tung Ming Building, 380 Lai Chi Kok Road, Sham Shui Po. No one has been arrested for the time being. There have been several similar cases in the district recently.

The police said that yesterday (22nd) received a report that a man used a long stick to snatch a handbag from the window of a unit at the address above, and the victim lost a total of 5,900 yuan in property. On the previous day (21st), about 6000 yuan of property was stolen from another unit at the address. Both cases were classified as burglaries and were handed over to the third team of the Sham Shui Po District Criminal Investigation Team for follow-up. No one has been arrested for the time being.

The fragment shows that the windows and doors of the unit responsible for the incident were opened, and the culprit Ina used a long bamboo with an iron hook in the front to slowly reach into the hall. Changzhu “roamed” to the sofa in the hall and successfully fished a handbag from the head of the household. It took the culprit about 40 seconds. When he pulled the handbag out of the window and door, the female head of household walked out of the hall and saw that the handbag was stolen by the culprit. She yelled, “Oh, rob! Hey, give me a bag, give me a bag!” The other two people in the house also walked to the hall to understand. The female victim called and said that she had been robbed at home. At this time, the culprit had already fled.

The “Stance News” reporter went to the building involved today (23rd) to find out and found that the building was under maintenance and scaffolding was erected on the outer wall. At one point, a uniformed police officer arrived at the scene, but he wanted to come to the door but “touched the nail”.
