Kalpatta: Wayanad’s Football Stars Shine in Kerala Super League
Thirteen players from Wayanad have made their mark in the Kerala Super League football action, a first-of-its-kind tournament modeled after the Indian Super League (ISL). These talented players are part of six different clubs, marking a significant milestone in the growth of football in Wayanad.
The presence of more players in professional clubs like the Super League is crucial for the development of football in Wayanad. The construction of a new district stadium and the formation of a professional football club, Wayanad United FC, have contributed to this achievement. The District Football Association has also taken steps to promote the growth of football in the area by activating the District Premier Division Leagues and Junior and Sub-Junior Football Tournaments.
Wayanad United FC Players Shine in the Super League
Eight players from Wayanad United FC alone are part of the Super League. Srinath, Arun Lal, Remith, and Jezeel play for Force Kochi FC, while Mohammad Amin and Akbar are part of the Kannur Warriors. Rijon Jose represents Calicut FC, and Jamie Joy plays for Thrissur Magic. Additionally, Gifty C Gracious and Safnad Mepadi are part of Thrissur Magic, Ajay Ambalavayal and Najeeb Ambalavayal play for Kannur Warriors, and Aslam Thalappuzha is part of Calicut FC.
