On the afternoon of the 4th, the press conference for the SBS new Monday-Tuesday drama ‘We Start Today’ was broadcast live online to prevent the spread of Corona 19. Director Jeong Jeong-hwa, along with actors Im Soo-hyang, Sung-hoon, Shin Dong-wook, and Hong Ji-yoon, attended the event.
‘From Today on’ is a romantic comedy that takes place when Oh Woo-ri (Im Soo-hyang), who has been keeping her chastity before marriage, has a child of Raphael (Sung-hoon) in an unexpected accident. It is based on the popular ‘Jane the Virgin’ series, which has been aired for five seasons on CWTV in the United States since 2014.

Director Jung said, “The original work was in South America, and it was a remake in the United States. Korean dramas are so provocative that they cannot be compared. It was loved so much that it was remade in the United States and released until season 5. There are people who enjoyed it even in Korea,” he said.
He continued, “So I saw Korean fans leaving comments. There are other stimuli that are so different that they say, ‘Even if the greatest godmother of Korea comes, it is difficult to make,’ so I think I tried to melt it into the Korean sentiment.”
Director Jung also expressed his burden, saying, “When we see it, there are many things that don’t fit the Korean sentiment, but to add fun to the original, I translated it and tried to melt the sentiment.” He continued, “After much deliberation, the version that is currently airing has been released. The work we remade is more about how the characters go through absurd events rather than provocative elements, because it is in the family and contains such family love.”

The main character keeps the chastity before marriage. It’s a drama, so I was worried because there are a lot of sensitive parts to ask for fun. There are a lot of issues like that, but I hope you enjoy it with the depth that I want you to think about it together, rather than saying that this is right or that is right.”
Regarding the casting, he said, “The cast is different from the original characters (synchronization rate). He gladly decided to appear, so other actors could not see the script. I think the chemistry is good because the perfect people gather. However, actor Hong Ji-yoon is the closest cast to the original. In the original story, a cute and gentle person is playing the villain. I think the actor who fits the original the most is Hong Ji-yoon. The chemistry between the actors was good and the atmosphere on set was good.”
Meanwhile, ‘We Start From Today’ will premiere on the 9th at 10PM.
